We’ve finally gotten around to updating our guest bedroom! We don’t have overnight guests all that often, but when we do, our top priority is making them feel welcome and comfortable. Today, I’m sharing tips for making your guests feel right at home during their stay.
First things first, it is so important to make sure the room is clean and free of any unnecessary clutter. When the space feels unkept and messy, it doesn’t provide an environment conducive to a good night’s sleep. In my opinion, less is more – even when it comes to decor! A simple vase with a few fresh flowers or eucalyptus should do the trick. You can check out this post here, for more ideas for styling greenery in your home!
The next tip ties right in with the last – always make sure the bed is made and that the sheets are fresh. This may seem like a no brainer to you, but it is so important. There are nothing like fresh sheets! Guests should feel like this room was made up just for them – even if you keep the guest room ready at all times, they don’t need to know that :). They will feel grateful and appreciate the effort you took in preparing for their arrival.
It’s always a nice touch to provide a few extra small details for your guests in addition to these basics. Perhaps, a bottle of water on the bedside table, a dish for any jewelry or pocket items, an extra phone charger, and a book or a magazine. I also like to have a kit prepared with an extra toothbrush and toothpaste, along with a towel and wash cloth. Guests will feel much more comfortable knowing they don’t have to ask you for any extra toiletries they may have forgotten.
I like to look at it as if I were a hotel. Think about the items you have seen in hotel rooms that have made your stay more enjoyable or more comfortable and apply those same ideas to your own home.
