Living Room Update with Serena & Lily

Do you have a space in your home that you struggle to get just right? You keep tweaking and tweaking, but yet somehow it just doesn’t come together the way you imagine it should? For me, that is the space around our fireplace. We’ve had several layouts and I think I have finally found the winner! I am thrilled to share our latest living room update courtesy of SERENA & LILY. I’ve had my eye on this item for some time now and I’m so excited about how it looks in our home.

First, let’s take a look at how the space has looked for the past few months. We purchased the Frame TV over the holidays which freed up the space to the left of the fireplace. Prior to the current layout, we had been using an old corner TV stand for the TV. Mounting the TV over the fireplace gave us so much more flexibility with furniture and décor layout.

It’s a good start, but it lacks balance and symmetry. I wanted something that added interest and height to the right side of the fireplace without feeling too heavy. The wall is shared with our dining room, so it was important for me to keep it simple to maintain a nice flow into the adjacent space. That is where the double wide teak ladder from Serena & Lily comes in!

AFTER

Adding the double wide teak ladder from Serena & Lily was the living room update that did just the trick! It adds balance and interest to the space, while maintaining both style and function. I love that the ladder gives a sense of height to the room as well. We only have 8 foot ceilings in our home, and the ladder makes the ceiling height feel so much more grand.

Fun fact: the ladder is made from harvested teak branches that would normally go unused and go to waste.

I snagged this throw blanket from Serena & Lily too. The Swansea Cotton Throw will be perfect for the chilly summer nights we get here in the Northwest! The tassels and blue stripe detail are the perfect nod to the coastal theme that Serena & Lily is so well known for, not to mention – they look so cute displayed on the ladder.
